| Leave it to NYC to introduce yet another healthful and socially comfortable way to enjoy a quick meal, hummus-as-you-like-it. In a super-sleek, contemporary sliver of a space, Nanoosh offers a menu of hummus plates and wraps---basic, non-spicy hummus; slightly more adventurous hummus with mushrooms; all the way to the grand poobah of hummus: hummus Nanoosh with natural ground beef, organic onions, mushrooms and tahini. There’s also a nice selection of other organic quickies like a roasted tomato soup, served cold or hot, that seems more like a rich blend of hearty vegetables than the Campbell’s soup variety. Salads are healthful Middle Eastern choices with tahini, feta, quinoa and chopped veggies. Sweets like apple cake finish the meal with organic apples, cardamom and cinnamon sauce; or go the Middle Eastern route and order lebane, a creamy cheese made from strained yogurt. Wines, teas and lemonades are all organic. |
