THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Nino's Tuscany Restaurant Review:
Walking in to this cramped Midtown Italian eatery, it's hard not to initially feel geographically misplaced: the kitschy Tuscan landscape murals, the 90-year-old piano player and the plastic menus all scream Mulberry Street. And so you think the food might be equally congruent. But then you'd be wrong. In fact, Nino's serves up better-than-average classic Tuscan fare. The spicy Cornish hen, marinated with rosemary and garlic and then flattened under a brick bursts with flavor, while the seared yellowfin tuna does exactly what it is supposed to do: melt in your mouth. The calamari stew and ribollita, a hearty Tuscan vegetable soup, are also winners.
