Norma's, New York, NY

Norma's Restaurant Review

: This institution of an eatery is known for one thing: breakfast. That's because it's served throughout the entire day. But don't mistake Norma's as your everyday eggs-n-bacon place. Traditional breakfast fare like oatmeal and pancakes are modernized into chic menu offerings like red berry risotto oatmeal and lemon griddle cakes with Devonshire cream. Bagels with capers and lox or artichoke and lobster omelets make for more substantial lunch-brunch fare. The restaurant's sleek interior design echoes the menu's balanced blend of traditional and modern, with warm, rich polished woods and earthy leathers set off by cool steel and clean, crisp white accents. There is also a full menu of homemade desserts, proving beyond a doubt that Norma's knows what breakfast is really all about.

Go to IHOP instead!
by kiernan7 on Wed Oct 29, 2008 1:59 pm
(NOTE: I'm usually a pretty easy going customer).... Ordered a REALLY TOUGH breakfast: Bacon and Eggs. Asked for over easy eggs, but when they arrived (later about 20 minutes) I could SEE that were hard as a rock (so could the waitress). She took the plate back and was gone FOR ANOTHER 20 minutes. I finally got so irate I went up to the manager and he took care of things. When the breakfast arrived, the eggs were fine, but the bacon (which I had asked for crisp) was anything BUT crisp. JEEZ! Was this really so hard? At the prices they charge!?!?!? (Bring a loan officer, by the way). You're better off at IHOP -- unless you're a masochist.
