| THIS ESTABLISHMENT IS CLOSED Situated on a quiet West Village street, this 34-seat Spanish-French-inspired eatery boasts exposed brick walls and columns and enough charm to make you want to stay all night. A.O.C., which stands for appellation d'origine contrôlée, is a government label applied to food products that meet strict quality standards controlling how and where they are made. But just to make things complicated, the menu also lists items that are D.O. approved (the Spanish label), and D.O.C. approved (the Italian label), as well. Confused? Ignore it and just order. You won't regret it. The menu changes seasonally but dishes such as the starter of hand-carved Navidul ham, tomato confit, and Modena vinegar or the entrée of suckling pig leg with slow-confit, dates and braised endive are both palate pleasers. Also recommended is the reasonably priced three-course prix-fixe menu. |
