THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED One91 Restaurant Review:

As boutique hotels rise up from the Lower East Side's once-gritty streets and fashionable restaurants swing open their doors, and while residents debate the benefits of the new LES, it's hard to argue with the presence of an eatery like One91. The white table-clothed front room is sedate and conservative, belying the leather-couch laden lounge in the second half of the room and the leafy back garden, which, surprisingly is not always full in the warm weather months. The menu has some serious Mediterranean leanings: start with fried calamari, which is crispy but left juicy enough to still burst with flavor, and then move on to the bistro burger (thoughtfully topped with caramelized onions and a slab of goat cheese) or lobster spaghetti, served with cherry tomatoes. The garlic mashed potatoes are a must (they come with the tasty apricot-glazed Cornish hen or you can order as a side). In the end, you may still be debating the advantages and disadvantages to gentrification, but your tummy will be more than satisfied.
