Sleek and bedecked with colorful fabrics on the wall, this Lower East Side nouveau American eatery is a good place to settle in for an evening of feasting and to nurse a cocktail. Sip on one of the many signature drinks --- try the tall Orchard Fizz --- while perusing a menu that is separated by small and large plates. Among the former, don’t pass up the “devils on horseback,” blue cheese-stuffed dates wrapped in bacon, or the crispy fried pickles. As for large plates, the pan-seared scallops, almost buried under a mountain of orzo, are nicely prepared. One needn’t be a vegetarian to appreciate the super-soft ricotta gnocchi, laden with Brussels sprout leaves and mushrooms and soaked in a creamy oregano sauce. Whatever you choose, save room for the white chocolate mousse, served in a roomy snifter.
