THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Patty & Bun Restaurant Review:
Billing itself as an “American tavern,” this Greenwich Village restaurant is a hybrid of sorts, leaning a few different ways: burger joint, gastropub, casual but smartly designed American restaurant. Whatever it is, Patty & Bun appeals to the need for comfort. Its menu is made up of meaty delights like steak and fries and ribs and a long list of burgers. The “Havoc” burger melds three types of meat---beef, lamb, pork---and because of the latter it’s cooked well done which doesn’t benefit the taste much. The turkey burger, though, is juicy and flavorful and the house burger, especially when cooked medium rare, is the best offering in the house. Skip the flaccid fries as well as the not-so-cheesy mac ‘n’ cheese and order another pint of the creamy beer, Old Speckled Hen, instead.
