| Pete's Downtown is touted for its views of the Manhattan skyline and Brooklyn Bridge---but don't forget the Italian favorites (and more) coming from the kitchen at this spot in business for four generations. Tin-ceilings and the use of brick add to the golden-age Brooklyn atmosphere that's well-supported by a menu offering appetizers like rolled eggplant stuffed with ricotta then topped with tomato sauce and mozzarella, and a mushroom timbale, wild mushrooms baked with herbs and Parmigiano served with salsa verde. The entrée Shrimp Pete's with broccoli, mushrooms, sun-dried tomatoes, garlic and olive oil with linguine is a less mainstream option but all the familiar veal, chicken and pasta dishes are there as well. Warm service, sturdy Italian fare and that amazing view make Pete's Downtown a destination. |
