 Looking for a place to cool off in the city? Before trekking around crowded Central Park for an unclaimed tree, head to the Pier i Café. To find it, walk to the end of W. 70th Street at Riverside Boulevard, where you will find Riverside Park South. Descend the stairs or ramp to the Hudson River Bike Path along the waterway. Amid a parade of pedestrians, bikers and runners is an oasis of umbrella-shaded tables. Here, weary sporty types in athletic gear rest with cool pitchers of fruit-laden white sangría, hearty burgers, and french fries. Closes in the fall when the weather turns cold, and opens May 1.
