| The once-decrepit Williamsburg diner has been brightly restored with lots of vibrant color and polished chrome. Though open for lunch and brunch, the scene pops loudest at dinner when a trendy neighborhood crowd congregates at the bar (once a luncheonette counter) and feasts on creative contemporary food. The chef, a graduate of River Café, produces comfort food with imagination. Fried calamari is accompanied by a piquant poblano-spiked marinara, and hearty meat, like pork chops and hanger steak, are always well prepared. The restaurant also offers a deserved signature cocktail, the Brooklyn. |
