THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Silent H Restaurant Review:
This Vietnamese tapas joint in Williamsburg has big shoes to fill. Taking over the space that formerly housed the nabe’s beloved Oznot’s Dish, Silent H underwent a renovation; its soothing slate gray walls and wooden bench-style tables make for a calm, unhurried atmosphere. Unfortunately the food is just as calm---as in bland. Summer rolls are filled with lifeless greens, and the greasy spring rolls lack flavor. One of the house specialties, the banh xeo, a Vietnamese crêpe filled with shrimp, ground pork and pork belly, promises a culinary adventure and delivers a gummy mess. The strengths of the restaurant are the atmosphere and prices (being BYOB helps keep the cost down too). During lunch, locals come for the banh mi sandwiches.
