THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Silk Rd Tavern Restaurant Review:
THIS RESTAURANT IS TEMPORARILY CLOSED FOR RENOVATIONS Pan-Asian comfort food? You bet. Welcome to Silk Rd Tavern, a Flatiron District eatery that boasts an inspired cocktail list (Thai margarita, anyone?) and a menu that fuses familiar American dishes and Asian classics. Mac ‘n’ cheese, for example, melts Vermont cheddar over rice cakes to palate tingling effect. The duck egg roll is stuffed with foie gras and it’s so good you’ll want to order two more. Barbecue short ribs, which come with an egg on top, are accompanied by kimchi Brussels sprouts. The best entrées on the menu, though, might be the Korean-style fried chicken in a paper bag or the Singapore crab potpie. Following this very satisfying cooking, dessert becomes something of an afterthought. But if you’re seeking a sweet finish, try the lemon grass panna cotta.
