THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED The Traphagen Restaurant Restaurant Review:

Beekman Arms, built in 1766, is the oldest American hotel in continuous operation and it retains a colonial ambience---note the wide-planked floors, overhead beams, a stone hearth, portraits, ledgers and photos. Once a favorite stop of General George Washington, Alexander Hamilton, Aaron Burr and Benedict Arnold, Beekman Arms today attracts New York City residents seeking a weekend escape. The dark colonial taproom with a low ceiling, which was the center of the original inn, definitely takes you back in time. There's also a conference center, so the place is packed with tourists, hotel guests and locals. The restaurant is overseen by chef Preston Faust, who uses locally grown ingredients whenever possible. The menu features a nice selection of classic and creative American foods. Try one of the three nightly specials. We appreciate the creamy crab-stuffed sautéed brook trout and the tender braised lamb shank, as well as the slow-roasted Long Island duckling. Avoid dining in the contemporary garden room that is attached to the historic building like an unwelcome growth.
