West 3rd Common Restaurant Review: Part of the recession-era boom of gastropubs to hit New York City, this oft-overlooked restaurant is more like an upscale pub (or downscale restaurant) in a gastropub’s clothing. Just have a look at the menu: there are varieties on the theme of chicken wings (chipotle, sweet chili, barbecue dry rub), duck sliders, and catfish ceviche. American sports bar grub. Not that the edible offerings here are bad, though. The zeitgeist-bandwagoning kimchi tamale is an explosion of Korean and Mexican flavors, while fried chicken is nicely accompanied by Gouda mac ‘n’ cheese. There are several specialty cocktails available (try the jalapeño martini) as well as a long list of draught beer. |
