THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Cafe Atlas Restaurant Review:
This 62-seat sanctuary of the savory gained a reputation for its on-the-edge contemporary cuisine by young British maverick Paul Liebrandt. But, in a sign of the economic times, in fall 2002 Atlas morphed into Café Atlas. New chef Bryan Calvert serves a more down-to-earth menu of dishes such as steamed mussels with garlic toast or roasted chicken with chanterelles. Naturally, prices have taken a plunge. The restaurant's warm, earth-toned and woody setting still features some of the city's most comfortable seating, with sound and light levels precisely engineered.
