Craftbar Restaurant Review: Located in the front lounge and terrace of Craft, Craftbar is another way to discover or rediscover the restaurant’s cuisine. Chef-owner Tom Colicchio has composed exciting small plates, at $9 or less. What a deal considering the quality of the dishes, and that you are in one of Los Angeles’ most elegant restaurants. Take your time to read through the long list of offerings---divided into snacks, salads, small plates, in a jar, flatbread, cheese and sweets. Except for the desserts, you can have them arrive at your table in no particular order, and as your appetite dictates. The dishes play with textures, colors, presentations, ingredients and tastes. So you will go from falafel with whipped spicy feta to a lamb slider with blue cheese and marmalade; from a smoked bacon and Maine lobster roll to a fennel salad with apple, walnut and raisin; from raw Atlantic fluke with sorrel and lime to foie gras confit with grapes, apple and macadamia nuts (the best dish of the many we had). The glass jar can contain mozzarella with basil and roasted tomato or Jidori chicken liver mousse, accompanied with tartines. The cheeses have interesting pairings with candied beets for the Malvarosa or apple fennel marmalade and Marcona almonds for the Morbier. The drink list is very reasonable with $5 beers, $8 cocktails and $7 glasses of wine.
