At the Taste of Hawaii - Ultimate Sunday Brunch, guests can wander the grounds of Smith's Family Garden Luau as they indulge in cuisine from 50 of Hawaii's chefs; drinks including wine, beer, specialty coffee drinks and smoothies from 15 beverage vendors; and live music all day at this fundraiser for the Rotary Club of Kapa'a. Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea will uncork the wines of four prominent California wineries June 7–9, 2012. The three-day event entitled “Four Pinots at Four Seasons Resort Maui” will feature vintners Gary Burke of Costa de Oro, Greg Brewer and Steve Clifton of Brewer-Clifton, Donald Patz of Patz & Hall and Webster Marquez of Anthill Farm Wineries. The event includes wine seminars, tastings and a series of exclusive wine dinners at the resort’s noted restaurants – Ferraro’s, DUO and Spago – plus a gala oceanfront wine dinner created by the resort’s master executive chef Roger Stettler and featuring 32 Pinots and 8 Chardonnays. A charity golf tournament to be held at Wailea Emerald Course will honor The Kimberly Project, a vineyard planted in honor of Greg Brewer’s cousin, and all proceeds will benefit the North County Rape Crisis and Child Protection Center and Maui's Women Helping Women. Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea provides an "Ultimate Dinner" upon request. This private dinner for two, which must be requested 24 hours in advance, is personally tailored in consultation with the chef and staged outside overlooking Wailea Beach. Guests can discuss their wine selections or receive special recommendations. Sample wine dinners include "Best of Sonoma," "Espagne," "Grand Cru Vineyards" and "Enogastrinomico." The "Enogastrinomico" dinner, for example, features insalata misto with Ferrari Brut, insalata pomodoro with Jermann "Dreams," Kobe tenderloin with Tenuta dell' Ornellaia "Ornellia," wild boar and mushroom with Gaja "Costa Russi," and a cheese plate with Argiolas "Angialis." Third Tuesdays
Wine and food pairing dinners happen the third Tuesday of each month at Tango Contemporary Café. Chef-owner Goran Streng and co-owner Tami Orozco select a theme and Streng's culinary creativity flows from that inspiration. The wines are tailored to the theme---regional or varietal or, on occasion, a combination of both. The menu is always four courses and the price rarely goes above $60 (not including tax and gratuity), which makes this dinner a relative bargain.
