Gary Danko’s dramatically styled San Francisco restaurant is a temple devoted to the worship of food, both by the local cognoscenti and by the chef himself. A connoisseur’s cheese case and cellar that holds over 1,200 wines offset the classical seasonal menu that includes signature dishes of roast lobster, foie gras and lamb loin. Danko recently acquired property in the Napa Valley town of Yountville where he will develop a small farm for the restaurant’s produce.
