About the restaurant: A night on the town in New York can very well be spent at a Broadway show, but we suggest venturing a bit farther south of the Theater District for an evening of epicurean entertainment at Eleven Madison Park. Chef Daniel Humm, who is also behind The NoMad restaurant nearby, demonstrates theatrical flair while presenting a fine-dining experience that will be engraved in your memory for a long time. The stage is a landmark Art Deco building with 35-foot-high windows overlooking Madison Square Park.

About the menus: Adjacent to the dining room is a bar that offers a tasting menu (five courses for $175, inclusive of gratuity) at tables in the bar area. The dining room tasting menu ($335 for 8-10 courses, inclusive of gratuity; wine pairings available for additional cost) changes four times a year with the seasons and pays homage to New York, both to its local ingredients and to its longstanding culinary traditions. Expect to devote three or four hours to the full experience as this "play" is made up of many acts, with little diversions along the way.

Food & Drinks: A meal might start with a clam, leek and potato soufflé to be mixed with caviar, followed by foie gras marinated with maple and apple. The signature honey and lavender glazed duck may be paired with shiitake mushrooms. Dessert might bring apple sherbet with toffee and crispy grains. Wine director Cédric Nicaise's exemplary wine list touches on topnotch selections from around the world. You may even watch your bottle be opened with heated tongs that make a clean break on the glass neck --- no uncorking necessary. No less elaborate is the tea service, where the leaves are brewed three times so guests may taste how the flavors evolve. There are also ales and spirits made exclusively for Eleven Madison Park by Threes Brewing and St. George Spirits. The well-trained staff members operate like an immaculate machine and seemingly outnumber patrons by a ratio of 2 to 1.
