Texas Jacks Barbecue will open in Fall 2015 in Arlington. The architecture will reflect a vigorous Texas attitude, as will the barbecue menu itself. Look for smoked goods such as brisket, beef short ribs, pulled pork and various sausages and jerked goat. The restaurant will serve only dinner, but will later launch lunch and brunch service. L’Hommage Bistro Français’ menu will offer classic and traditional cooking representative of France. The restaurant will also showcase an on-site bakery where patrons can purchase freshly made breads and pastries. All this will develop under the watchful eye of executive chef Joshua Laban Perkins, who has cooked in such establishments as Brasserie Le Coze in Atlanta. An extensive collection of more than 200 French wines emphasizing all regions of the country will be available, along with 20 wines by the glass and eight on tap. Northern Virginians, and plenty of others, are rejoicing in the opening of Clarity, a New American restaurant in Vienna. Why? Its chefs, partners in the now-defunct Inox restaurant in Tysons Corner, have reunited and combined their culinary skills. Jon Krinn (formerly the executive chef at 2941 Restaurant) and Jason Maddens have well-honed kitchen skills and creative ideas that spur them on to create such dishes as citrus-marinated shrimp and scallops and a pork blade chop with roasted beets.
