RESTAURANT NEWS

Openings

Ashok Bajaj, the owner of the dual restaurants Ardeo+Bardeo, has closed Bardeo and opened in its place Bindaas, an Indian eatery under the direction of Rasika chef Vikram Sunderam. While sipping Indian beers or craft cocktails, patrons can scan the menu to pick out a variety of savory snacks, kebabs and assorted street foods that include pork, fish, chicken, beef and vegetables. Bindaas also features an open kitchen that allows cooking fragrances to entice patrons and to show off the chefs at work creating the unusual treats that include pathar gosht, a lamb kebab cooked on a stone oven and served on a bed of saffron rice; and uttapam, a fermented rice pancake with lentils and shrimp pepper. Note: Bindaas is Indian slang for “independent” and “cool.” Sister restaurant Ardeo will continue to offer its American menu. Bindaas, 3309 Connecticut Ave. NW, Washington, DC 20008, 202-244-6550.
