Cuba Libre Restaurant & Rum Bar is slated to open in Penn Quarter in May. The restaurant's energy and atmosphere will pay tribute to the flavors, music, art and culture of Cuba. The traditional outdoor cafés of pre-Castro Old Havana will inspire the dining area. Culinary traditions will be transformed into a "Nuevo Cubano" menu under the guidance of chef Guillermo Pernot. Masa 14 Offers Pre-Theater Menu and Live Jazz
Masa 14 is debuting pre-theatre dining just three blocks from Studio Theatre. Available Monday through Thursday from 5 p.m.-6:30 p.m., the menu includes a choice of any three signature dishes off the Latin-Asian menu (with the exception of the black cod and Wagyu beef brisket) accompanied by a glass of house wine or signature strawberry lemonade for $24.95 per person (tax and gratuity not included). Additionally, guests now have the opportunity to unwind at the 100-seat dining room or 74-seat lounge while enjoying live jazz music courtesy of Charles Rahmat Woods, also known as Rahmat Shabazz. Tallula Offers Neighborly Noshes
Tallula Restaurant is giving locals a reason to dine out on a weeknight with its new "Neighborhood Nosh" menu. The three-course prix-fixe menu ($35 per person) is offered Monday-Thursday from 5:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m. The menu allows patrons to choose any appetizer, an entrée and a dessert from executive chef Barry Koslow's dinner menu. Dishes may include ahi tartare with snow peas, sesame crackers and red pepper coulis; hazelnut and coriander suzuki with fennel, broccoli, cipollinis and mussel miso broth; and slow-cooked lamb shank with white beans, Northern neck kale and chorizo. AGAINN Joins the Brunch Bunch
Available Sundays from 11 a.m.-4 p.m., the brunch menu at AGAINN showcases executive chef Wesley Morton's interpretation of European bistro fare with items inspired by the British Isles. Priced from $7 to $32 each, standouts include house-made cranberry and cornmeal scones served with orange marmalade, Devonshire cream and lemon curd; and an English-style breakfast of two fried eggs, baked beans, marinated tomato, bacon and bangers. To complement the menu, AGAINN also offers a $5 mimosa and a $5 classic Bloody Mary topped with fresh prawns during Sunday's brunch service.
