Restaurateur and chef Jamie Leeds is opening The Twisted Horn, a craft cocktail bar in the Petworth area of DC. Its drinks menu features seasonal cocktails using local ingredients, house infusions and creative mixes. Opening cocktails include Scarlet Billows, Blackwell Rum and Ghostwood Development. Patrons can enjoy these “crafty” libations while munching on bar bites and snacks. The Twisted Horn, 819 Upshur St. NW, Washington, DC 20011, 202-290-1808.

D.C. chef Eric Ziebold, formerly of CityZen, has opened Kinship, designed by Darryl Carter, offering modern American cuisine on the first floor of a historic building. Métier, an additional eatery located below it, will debut in Winter 2016 and present an intimate dining experience. Kinship, 1015 7th St. NW, Washington, DC 20001, 202-737-7700.

Chaia, the vegetarian/vegan taco stand from local farmers markets, has opened in Georgetown as a tiny restaurant. With just a few indoor and alfresco tables, Chaia offers an all-taco menu that changes seasonally to reflect what local farmers are growing, some beers, juices and coffee, and some gluten-free sweets. The owners, Bettina Stern and Suzanne Simon, are dedicated to serving crowd-attracting and healthful tacos. Lunch & Dinner Tues.-Sun. Chaia, 3207 Grace St. NW, Washington, DC 20007, 202-333-5222.

California native The Habit Burger Grill has hit the East Coast, and lucky Virginia is its first DC area location. In its new setting, the eatery can accommodate up to 86 patrons, who line up at the open kitchen to place their orders for just-sizzled burgers and various salads and sides.
