John L. Loeb, former U.S. Ambassador to Denmark, founded Sonoma-Loeb in 1990. He sold the brand in April 2011 to Chappellet, with whom he had shared winemaker Phillip Corallo-Titus for two decades. The brand's 2010 Private Reserve Chardonnay boasts mouthfilling pear and pineapple flavors with a hint of vanilla and nutmeg. It would go well with heavier entrées like swordfish or tuna steak.
