May 31-June 2 Where else can you get wines from South Coast Winery & Resort, Wilson Creek Winery & Vineyards, Keyways Winery, Monte de Oro, Palumbo, Miramonte, Bel Vino, Briar Rose, Europa Village, Lorimar, Maurice Car'rie, Robert Renzoni Vineyards & Winery, Thornton, Van Roekel and Wiens Family Cellars all in one beautiful park with a lake view? Held at the Lake Skinner Recreation area, the Temecula Valley Balloon & Wine Festival is surrounded by untouched natural vistas, Lake Skinner and the Shipley Multi-Species Reserve. Outside the park borders are the rolling hills of Southern California's Wine Country - a wine country that now boasts more than 30 wineries. There are three options to wine tasting at the Festival: Reserve Tasting with six 2 ounce pours of award winning winemakers' reserve wines in a specialty souvenir glass $25; Standard Wine Tasting, $15, includes six tastes and a souvenir glass; Food and Wine Pairing, Saturday and Sunday includes four courses from local chefs paired with four different award-winning wines. It’s $73 on Saturday, $65 on Sunday and includes Festival admission as well as Festival seating at the concerts. Guests can buy full glasses of wine at "Wine by the Glass." June 8-9 The 8th Annual LAWineFest will serve up a relaxed weekend of great wines and more on Saturday and Sunday, June 8-9, in support of L.A.’s own Food Forward, the non-profit group that works with home and business owners to glean unused fruit to feed the Southland’s hungry. Event attendees explore hundreds of award-winning wines from around the globe, brews and spirits in a fun and accessible environment. Live demonstrations and tasting seminars are scheduled throughout the weekend. Twitter-ific food trucks, live music, and boutiques add to the fun. One-day tickets ($85) or weekend passes ($110) get ticket-holders unrestricted access. Some seminars require an additional nominal fee. For those wanting to take home a taste of LAWineFest, K&L Wines in Hollywood will be on-site to take orders and make wines available for in-store pickup or home delivery. June 14 Join Los Angeles Wine Tasting for a 1950's Rendezvous & Vintage Fashion Show on June 14 at the Los Angeles Athletic Club. Meet and mingle at the new bar 'Invention', an homage paid to the inventions of the club members over time that were found in the Club’s archives. With an expertly crafted cocktails list and a decadent menu of gourmet bites, this space will transport you back into the private-club tradition. During this unique soiree, models will be strolling in a mid-century style fashion show. Each admission ticket includes one glass of wine and complimentary appetizers for the 1st hour. June 23 The Drink:Eat:Play Wine Festival, presented by BevMo, will take place at the Santa Monica Pier on Sunday, June 23 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Attendees will have access to over 50 wineries, hundreds of wines and the perfect evening setting. General Admission is $50 and VIP is $60. Both admissions include wine, with VIP attendees admitted an hour early and free admission to the pier’s Pacific Park (rides and games). Thursdays Once per month, zinc@shade hosts Wine Academy. Mix and mingle under the stars while you taste wine, try delicious small bites and improve your viticulture knowledge. Sundays Every Sunday from 5 p.m. to close, diners at City Tavern can participate in the Market Basket Bartender program by picking one of three options in three categories (spirits, fruits, and syrups) to create a custom $6 cocktail. Spirits will range in variety, from rum to rye to gin, the ‘fruit’ category will also include a variety of herbs and spices, and the syrups section will include flavored syrups, bitters and liqueurs – all selections based on a mix of what is currently fresh and in season and the current bartender’s whimsy.
