January 14-February 11
The fourth-annual Pasadena PinotFest — sponsored by Pasadena's Noir Food & Wine — promises to once again be a palate-satisfying series of standout events from January 14 through February 11, 2012. PinotFest celebrants will have the chance to taste hundreds of California-produced Pinot Noir wines, and simultaneously benefit the in-need children and families served by Hathaway-Sycamores Child and Family Services. The festivities commence with a kick-off luncheon on January 14 followed by a Grand Kickoff Dinner at the Altadena Town & Country Club on January 15, and the festival will culminate with a Grand Public Tasting at the Altadena Town & County Club on February 11, which will feature wines from over 100 wineries. In between there will be gourmet winemaker dinners and wine tastings at Noir Food & Wine (ranging in price from $10 to $149 per person) as well as access to winemakers and other wine experts. Olio will host a special, aphrodisiac, multi-course dinner on February 7 with a menu designed by Olio chef Bradford Kent and Romancing the Stove author and nationally recognized aphrodisiac foods expert Amy Reiley. The menu will highlight sensual ingredients from sea scallops to chocolate to sparkling wine. The seductive meal, designed not only for its sensual pleasure but to give guests a few ideas for their own Valentine’s dinner, will feature beer and wine pairings from Olio’s new list. Patina restaurant at the Walt Disney Concert Hall celebrates the finest contemporary French cuisine and Old World-style wines during a special evening with Lasseter Family Winery. The restaurant welcomes the family-owned winery to introduce its wines alongside four courses from executive chef Tony Esnault ($130 per person, all inclusive). The Beverly Hills Wine Festival will be held on February 26 at The Beverly Hilton. The event benefits the LA Animal Alliance, Pets to Patriots and all the LA City and Los Angeles County animal shelters. American Sommelier’s flagship Viticulture & Vinification course will be held for the first time at Hollywood’s legendary Roosevelt Hotel from Monday, March 26 through Saturday, March 31.
