Openings
Chef-owner Guy Wong opened Miso Izakaya on February 2 in Inman Park. Roughly translated, Izakaya means "a place to eat and drink," and is an authentic and traditional form of Japanese-style pub fare that features small plates for sharing and inexpensive delicacies---Japanese tapas in other words. Miso Izakaya's menu includes a variety of saké, wine, beer, shochu and inexpensive, appetizer-size meals prepared in traditional forms of tempura, simmered dishes and grilled robata dishes such as yakitori skewers. The minimal interior design and use of natural earth tones give the restaurant a calming and comforting ambience. Dinner nightly. Miso Izakaya, 619 Edgewood Ave. SE, Atlanta, GA 30312, 678-701-0128.
BLT Steak, with initials standing for Bistro Laurent Tourondel, the chef who lends his persona to the operation, will open January 27, in the W Atlanta - Downtown Hotel & Residences in Allen Plaza. Featuring steak, the kitchen will offer American Wagyu and Japanese Kobe beef, among other steak items. Fish also will be served in what are described as "steakhouse portions." Eight varieties of potato dishes will be offered, along with the customary sides. Look for desserts that showcase both French and American styles. Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner daily. BLT Steak, W Atlanta – Downtown Hotel & Residences, 45 Ivan Allen Jr. Blvd. NW, Atlanta, GA 30308, 404-577-7601.
