RESTAURANT NEWS

Openings

Partnering with Concentrics Restaurants, The Glenn Hotel and Legacy Property Group has opened 30 Tables, to replace Maxim Prime, which in turn replaced B.E.D. At the same time, The Glenn Hotel will open its redesigned 11 Stories rooftop space, also under Concentrics management. Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be offered at 30 Tables, and it will also handle room service for the hotel. Southern-influenced specialties will dominate the menu. Overseeing the kitchen is chef Daniel Chance, a Concentrics chef since 2003. He also is an alumnus of the Buckhead Life Restaurant Group. Chance's modern American fare is highlighted by sustainable and seasonal ingredients that reflect the restaurant's Southeast influences. The 11 Stories rooftop garden provides a steady supply of fresh herbs. Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner daily. 30 Tables, 110 Marietta St., NW, Atlanta, GA 30303, 404-521-2250; 866-40GLENN.

WaterHaven, located in Midtown's Technology Square, opened for dinner on May 12 in the former Globe space. WaterHaven is the brainchild of Joe McCarthy, a 30-year food service industry veteran. The restaurant's sustainable practices include the use of local, sustainable ingredients in the kitchen, an intensive recycling program throughout the restaurant, and the use of biodegradable disposables for takeout. The executive chef is Chris Lee, a Memphis Culinary Academy graduate who has worked under master chef Jose Gutierrez, Wolfgang Puck and Gary Danko. A farm-to-table philosophy governs the contemporary American menu. Among the dishes are Painted Hills hanger steak with house-cut fries and crispy caramelized Vidalia onions, fresh Georgia trout wrapped in apple wood-smoked bacon, and fresh herb pasta layered with mushrooms, onions and ricotta in brown butter. Lunch & Dinner Mon.-Sat. WaterHaven, Technology Square, 75 5th St. NW, Atlanta, GA 30308, 404-214-1424.
