Byron 2012 Santa Maria Valley Pinot Noir features fragrant aromas of peach and pear

RED

Davies Vineyards 2012 Pinot Noir
Anderson Valley, California

When Byron first began making wine in 1984, Santa Barbara County was not known for creating great Pinot Noir, and the region was believed to be unable to compete with varietals from Northern California or Oregon. As it turns out, of course, Santa Barbra County's proximity to the Pacific Ocean makes it a perfect location to grow these red grapes, and today's vibrant Pinot Noirs showcase the region's success. The 2012 Santa Maria Valley Pinot Noir boasts aromas of cherry and blackberry and notes of smoke, with a round mouthfeel and velvety tannins.

Catch of the Day: Pumpkin-encrusted sea scallops in a creamy peppercorn sauce will pair elegantly with this Pinot Noir.
