Flying Dog DogtoberfestFlying Dog has its roots in Aspen and Denver, Colorado and branched out to a larger state-of-the-art brewing facility in Frederick, Maryland in 2006. The brewery is known for its irreverent attitude, dog motif, labels featuring the unusual cartoon artwork of Ralph Steadman and quotes from gonzo journalist Hunter S. Thompson. Dogtoberfest is on the tamer side of its repertoire, and ferments for 49 days, the longest of any of the brewery's beers. This three-time GABF medal-winner is made with German Hallertau and Perle hops and German malt and yeast and rounds out at 5.6 per cent ABV for an authentic version of the style. Dogtoberfest has a deep mahogany color and is balanced with a toasted malt body and caramel sweetness. Suggested food pairings are Mexican and pepper jack cheeses, sweet Asian sauces and spiced desserts.Price: $8.99 for a six-pack of 12 oz. bottles
