The third annual Librarian Pub Crawl is taking place May 26 at 6 p.m. It's intended to promote libraries and literacy and support the American Cancer Society. The Kohler Festival of Beer brings more than 1,000 brew fans to Kohler for a weekend filled with beer-themed happenings, a homebrew competition, lively entertainment and tastings from more than 30 brewers. The festival features unique offerings including the signature soirée, Cheers to Beers Grand Tasting where guests can sample an extensive selection of beers from breweries around the world and vote for their favorites. Other events include a festive Tapping Party featuring unreleased, new Wisconsin and American beers, the Beer Lover's American Bounty Seafood Buffet, the Fourth Annual Blackwolf Run Beer Challenge Golf Tournament & Million-Dollar Shootout on the Meadow Valleys Course and the toe-tapping Blues, Brews & BBQ, a celebration of barbeque cuisine with live blues music and an extensive assortment of beers. Union Station's Great Hall will morph into a "Wine Riot" on June 1 from 7 p.m.-11 p.m., and June 2 from 1 p.m.-5 p.m. and 7 p.m.-11 p.m., with over 250 vinos to sample and experts on hand to explain. Geja's Cafe invites guests to enjoy a fondue dinner paired with the best of Oregon’s Argyle Winery on June 4. The Argyle Winemaker Dinner, part of Geja’s Café’s ongoing popular Winemaker Dinner series, will be a special and informative event featuring a representative from the winery on hand to provide commentary and answer questions on the wines. Argyle has rivaled the best from France since their beginning and was named Oregon’s Premiere Winery by Wine Spectator. Argyle farms three vineyards: Knudsen Vineyard, Stoller Vineyard and Lone Star Vineyard. The evening begins with a 6:30 p.m. reception followed by dinner at 7 p.m. Geja’s sommelier, Michael Roberts, and a representative of the winery will engage the guests in a lively discussion of the evening’s wines. The four-course dinner features Geja's house Salad, Cheese Fondue, Beef Tenderloin, Chicken & Jumbo Shrimp Entree, and Flaming Chocolate Fondue for dessert. Each course will be paired with the appropriate all-you-can-drink wine. Cost for each dinner is $55 per person, which includes the wines, dinner, tax and gratuity. ENO, a wine, cheese and chocolate lounge in the InterContinental Chicago, is now hosting an ongoing wine class at 6 p.m. The classes are thematic with flights of four classes, although the classes are not cumulative and attending out of series will not diminish the experience. Each series of four classes will focus on a different wine-producing region or varietal, starting with Pinot Noir and guiding guests through the history, pairings and origins of the wine. Four classes will be available for $75 per person, though guests are also encouraged to come when they can with single classes priced at $25 per person.
