Top 10 Summer Wines 2010

Chalk Hill 2007 North Slope Pinot Gris, one of our Top 10 Summer Wines

WHITE

Chalk Hill
2007 North Slope Pinot Gris

This Russian River Valley Pinot Gris was barrel-fermented in neutral French oak barrels and aged sur-lie for nine months, without undergoing malolactic fermentation. On the nose, a refreshing burst of citrus and cream precede aromas of lemon oil, white peach, white flowers, and dry hay. The palate is crisp with ripe citrus notes, and becomes weighty and round as it coats the mouth. Background essences of honey, fig and hazelnut complement its minerality. Made without fining or filtration, the wine's natural character and subtle nuances are captured.

Rating: 14.5/20
Price: $48
