CHICAGO RESTAURANT NEWS

Openings

Cute boutiques and matchbox-sized restaurants line Roscoe Village's main drag. Add one more eatery to the quaintness: Le Sud. Executive chef Ryan Brosseau (Table, Donkey & Stick; Perennial Virant) aims for seasonal Mediterranean fare at this 120-seater built for date nights and neighbor catchups on the rooftop bar, which will be open by spring 2019. Savor entrées such as foie gras tarte, sardine escabeche, rabbit a la Provencal, and fettuccine with mussels alongside frites with aïoli, corn and squash salad, roasted and pickled cauliflower and chickpea with pickled okra. Regional French wines sit next to global varietals and six signature cocktails. A café setting complete with marble tabletops and cast iron pedestals, velveteen ocean-hued banquettes and distressed barn wood communal tables lends to a relaxed romantic vibe. Le Sud, 2301 W. Roscoe St., Chicago, IL 60618, 773-857-1985.

U.S. Pizza Museum Lengthens its Tenure
U.S. Pizza Museum won't be leaving Chicago anytime soon. The pizzaporium, which included interactive exhibits, art, rare pizza boxes, vinyl records, vintage ads, toys, video games and more, is extending its stay through the fall season, with tickets available as late as January 2019. The museum's popularity prompted the decision to add more tickets. The location is open on Fridays from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
