Openings
David Burke's Primehouse is undergoing a remodel and expansion, a fact that will usher in Burke's Bacon Bar, a spot for porcine-packed sandwiches. Look for it in July, alongside David Burke's. Burke’s Bacon Bar, 616 N. Rush St., Chicago, IL 60611, no phone.
New York-based Shake Shack has set its sights on a Chicago location, slated to open next year. Shake Shack, 66 E. Ohio St., Chicago, IL 60611, no phone.
Welcome Carrie Nahabedian's new restaurant, Brindille, a French place with serious appeal. Offerings range from signature lobster with black trumpet mushrooms, cocoa beans and petite potatoes, offset by coral butter and a touch of vanilla, to Dover sole meunière with hints of grapefruit and lemon balm. Brindille, 534 N. Clark St., Chicago, IL 60654, 312-595-1616.
Longtime Chicago diners may recognize the name Centro, a former Italian hub in River North. Well, it’s back --- big-time --- with Joe Farina (of the Rosebud Group) as its executive chef. Yep, you’ve got a new, sprawling spot for indulging in chicken Parmigiana and milanese. Oreganato and cacciatore-style, too. Centro, 6 W. Hubbard St., Chicago, IL 60654, 312-988-7775.
Artisan ice cream shop Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams from Columbus will open an outpost in Chicago, just in time for the end of summer. Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams, 3404 N. Southport Ave., Chicago, IL 60657, no phone.
The Longman & Eagle team has opened retro-feeling Parson’s Chicken & Fish. It features a vast, fenced-in outdoor patio with picnic table seating and an herb wall. Meanwhile, its menu emphasizes chicken and fish (available in buckets), all prepared by Hunter Moore (Girl & The Goat). No doubt you’ll want a Negroni slushy to go with. Parson’s Chicken & Fish, 2952 W. Armitage Ave., Chicago, IL 60647, 773-384-3333.
