Openings
Chef Dominique Crenn (Atelier Crenn, one of GAYOT's Top 40 Restaurants in the U.S.) will open a permanent version of Boutique Crenn in Summer 2020. (The project is currently a pop-up in the Salesforce Tower.) In an effort to be mindful of environmental impact, the interior will be made from up-cycled materials. The plant-based patisserie/boulangerie will have a coffee and tea shop offering no disposable cups (patrons must bring their own reusable cups). From owners Michael and Lindsay Tusk (Quince, Cotogna), and managing partner-beverage director Matt Cirne, comes Verjus, a wine bar-wine shop and casual dining destination in the Financial District. Verjus, Eclipse Champagne Building, 528 Washington St., San Francisco, CA 94111, 415-944-4600.
January 2020 means wonderful deals across the Bay Area as staggered "restaurant weeks" hit San Francisco, Oakland, Berkeley and even Alameda, featuring lunch and dinner bargains at a wide range of popular restaurants. Deals might include special prix-fixe menus or deeply discounted prices for two, and often include beverages such as cocktails, beer or wine. Chef-owner Roland Passot will close his French restaurant La Folie on March 14, 2020, after 32 years. La Folie has been featured on GAYOT's Top 40 Restaurants in the U.S. in 2005 and from 2017-2019. La Folie, 2316 Polk St., San Francisco, CA 94109, 415-776-5577.
