Openings
Chef Frédéric Simonin opened his eponymous Restaurant Frédéric Simonin in the 17th arrondissement in April. He prepares very impressive traditional and modern cuisine, and we think the Parisian clientele will be drawn in by his immense talent. Restaurant Frédéric Simonin, 25, rue Bayen, 75017 Paris, 01 45 74 74 74.
The Mandarin Oriental, Paris has opened, featuring two restaurants from chef Thierry Marx---his first projects in the French capital. Sur Mesure is decorated in shades of white to provide a blank canvas for the "techno-emotional" culinary creations to come, while Camelia is a more casual, modern restaurant offering French and Asian cuisine. Mandarin Oriental, Paris, 251, rue Saint-Honoré, 75001 Paris, 01 70 98 78 88.
