Unbelievable Wine Prices at Le Meritage
Chef Michael Farrell of Le Meritage Restaurant says “Out with the old, and make room for the new!” Farrell has decided to reduce the price of 20 high-caliber top-of-the-line wines to just $20 a bottle until they run out.  Varietals include Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blan, Pinot Noir, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvigonon. The deals include a Chateau St. Michelle Chardonnay that usually sells for $45, a Heitz Cellars Sauvignon Blanc that lists of $48, and even a Gustavo Thrace Cabernet that generally sells for $85. Mr. B's Bistro Turns 30
One of the French Quarter's most iconic eateries is set to celebrate its 30th anniversary. Mr. B's Bistro turns 30 this summer after a long, arduous struggle to reopen following Hurricane Katrina. To mark the milestone, through Aug. 30, Mr. B's will offer specially priced lunch, dinner and Sunday jazz brunches. The three-course packages all begin with panko shrimp on wilted spinach with spicy tasso and "crystal" beurre blanc; or a summer salad. Lunch entree choices include jumbo lump crabcake salad, rosemary chicken with baby carrots and orzo, or gulf fish en papillotte. The dinner entree includes a summer sampler of demi gulf fish, demi bacon-wrapped shrimp and grits, and demi rabbit tenderloin. For dessert each guest will be treated to a Mr. B's Happy Birthday cupcake. The three-course lunch is $19.79 (the year the place opened); dinner is $30 (in honor of 30 years of service); and brunch is $30. Lunch & Dinner daily.
