Pizza Domenica has received formal approval from the New Orleans City Council to open on Magazine Street. Pizza Domenica is an offshoot of Domenica, located in The Roosevelt New Orleans, A Waldorf Astoria Hotel. The pizza at Domenica emerged as one of the most popular house items, causing the owners to consider a satellite restaurant focusing primarily on it as a specialty. Sylvain, the popular see-and-be-seen gastropub in the heart of the French Quarter, is taking its show to a beautiful two-story mansion in the Garden District. The restaurant's owners announced plans for a second location on Magazine Street in a building that was most recently an upscale spa and retail store. It is not yet a done deal, but the owners are trying to buy the building. Because the building has not previously been used as a food and beverage outlet, the owners will have to go through the licensing process with the New Orleans City Council in order to be able to serve alcohol. They hope to open in late 2014 with current chef Alex Harrel at the helm in the kitchen. Will the buttermilk-fried "Chick Sylvain" sandwich make the cut for the new menu? One can only hope. McClure's Barbecue In Legal Dispute with Homeowners
The recently opened McClure's Barbecue is already in hot water with area residents who claim that the restaurant's outdoor smoker is wreaking havoc with the air quality in the neighborhood. The neighbors filed a lawsuit in New Orleans Civil District Court, seeking to compel owner Neil McClure to cease operations and face eviction. The smoker was not approved for use outdoors prior to the restaurant's opening in late July. To date, no action has been taken on the suit and McClure's future operation has not been determined. Felipe's Spices Things Up After Dark
Felipe's Taqueria, the popular French Quarter build-your-own-Mexican entrée joint, unveiled a new Wednesday, Friday and Saturday late night menu. The new menu items, available starting at 11 p.m. on weekends, include a "Sonoran Hot dog," which is a quarter-pound frank, topped with refried beans and multiple condiments, stuffed into a baguette. The bar stays open way into the wee hours at the lively corner eatery on Decatur Street. There is no official closing time. Lunch & Dinner daily. Felipe's Taqueria, 301 N. Three Muses Offshoot to Liven Up Freret Street
Two of the three owners of Three Muses, the lively, always-busy Faubourg Marigny small plates restaurant, have announced plans for a second location on bustling Freret Street. Freret, now home to at least a dozen eateries, will see Three Muses operate in the same location that was home for several decades to the venerable Dunbar's Restaurant. Dunbar's closed this location after Katrina, and it has remained vacant ever since. The new location will reportedly not be named Three Muses, and details of the menu and concept have not been revealed. The owners hope for a late 2014 opening. Chef Shuffle

The Grill Room, one of the city's most elegant fine dining spots, has yet another new chef de cuisine. This time it is Daniel Causgrove, late of Le Petite Grocery and Dijon's. Causgrove fills a spot that has been temporarily occupied by Vlad Ahmadyarov, who will now assume the role of executive chef for the hotel. The Grill Room has seen an inordinate turnover in the chef role over the past decade or so, but tends to maintain its sense of quality and decorum in spite of the repeated changing of the guard in the kitchen. Causgrove promises a menu that focuses on contemporary Southern cooking. How that will play out should be revealed within a few weeks when his new menu debuts.
