James Beard Award Nominations Announced
The nominees for the 2013 James Beard Foundation Awards have been announced. Among the Boston representatives are Jamie Bissonnette (Coppa), Joanne Chang (flour bakery + café) and Barry Maiden (Hungry Mother) for Outstanding Chef Northeast. The annual Awards Ceremony and Gala Reception will take place on May 3 & 6, 2013, at Lincoln Center's Avery Fisher Hall in New York. Restaurant Week Returns to Boston
The Greater Boston Convention & Visitors Bureau's Restaurant Week Boston will run March 17-22 and March 24-29 this winter. A variety of restaurants will offer two-course lunches ($15.13), three-course lunches ($20.13) and three-course dinners ($38.13) over the two-week period. Asana Chef Rachel Klein Introduces a Pop-up Noodle Shop
Asana chef Rachel Klein has introduced a pop-up noodle shop known as PHO@MO inside the Mandarin Oriental, Boston. It's open daily now through the end of March from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. For $7.95, you can indulge in aromatic oxtail and ginger-scallion broth with add-ins of shaved steak or chicken to accompany the traditional pho garnishes like rice noodles, mint and bean sprouts. Fleming’s Brings Back Filet & Lobster Combo
You know it's spring when Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar brings back its filet and lobster combo. Available now through April 7th for $37.95, the dinner also includes a starter (French onion soup or wedge salad) and side of spaghetti squash. Celebrity Chef Series at Empire
Empire is starting off a celebrity chef series on March 14 with New York chef Eddie Huang, who will be serving up dishes from his Baohaus restaurant in the East Village. The $50 menu includes a variety of baos (steamed buns filled with meats, vegetables and Asian ingredients), oxtail soup with heirloom tomatoes and mung bean noodles. A Taste of Iceland Returns to Boston with Dinners at Legal Sea Foods
Legal Harborside's second floor restaurant will host "A Taste of Iceland" this year with a four-course menu prepared by guest chef Thrainn Freyr Vigfusson from March 8-12. For $55 per person, you can sample everything from marinated Icelandic salmon with fennel to roasted shoulder of Icelandic lamb. The four-course menu is exclusive to the Harborside location.
