The Italian restaurant, MC Medici Ristorante & Bar, will be taking over the former space of 606 Congress in the Renaissance Boston Waterfront Hotel and is slated for a 2014 opening. Brought to you by the duo behind Arrows Restaurant and MC Perkins Cove in Maine, this is the first Massachusetts venture for Mark Gaier and Clark Frasier. You may know Jason Santos as the chef around town with the blue hair, who serves up comfort fare at his other two restaurants Blue Inc. near Faneuil Hall and Abby Lane in the Theater District. He is expanding his name across town, now to the Back Bay, with his third restaurant, Back Bay Harry's, where you can snack on everything from Philly cheesesteak pizzas to veggie gyros. Curry at MO Pops Up at Mandarin Oriental, Boston
The Mandarin Oriental, Boston has just launched its latest pop-up, Curry at MO. Stop in for spiced curry bowl recipes from Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok’s Sala Rim Naam restaurant. The menu includes gaeng khiew waan gai rue nuea, Thai green curry and rice with chicken, sweet basil, eggplant and fresh chili for $11, and chu chi goong lai suea, tiger prawns in red curry with rice for $15. Curry at MO is available daily in the Lobby Lounge from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. and includes a glass of lemonade made with fresh lemon juice, house-made mint syrup, sparkling water and a touch of salt. Pop-up Apple Orchard Inside The Ritz-Carlton, Boston Common
Artisan Bistro’s executive chef Andrew Yeo has created a pop-up Apple Orchard inside The Ritz-Carlton, Boston Common. On Saturdays from 12 to 4 p.m., throughout the month of October, guests can enjoy a taste of fall with cider donuts, caramel apples, mini apple streusel and spiced apple cider sangria. Chef Shuffle

Ken Oringer and Jamie Bissonnette are opening a New York branch of their Spanish tapas spot Toro. The menu includes dishes like sea urchin sandwich and beef heart romesco. After more than 30 years as a Harvard Square staple, UpStairs on the Square is slated to close its doors forever on New Year's Eve, but not without a stylish bash. On December 31, owners Mary-Catherine Deibel and Deborah Hughes will host a grand finale party complete with tasting menus and an early and late night seating. Hilltop Steak House in Saugus has closed after more than 50 years in business. The Western-themed restaurant was a distinctive sight along Route 1 with its giant neon cactus sign and fiberglass cows. Hilltop Steak House, 855 Broadway, Saugus, MA 01906, no phone.
