As much as we enjoyed Bruce Logue's personally styled Italian cooking at La Pietra Cucina and lamented his departure from that scene, we look forward to his new enterprise, BoccaLupo, which debuted Monday, April 15, 2013, in Inman Park. Initially open only for dinner Monday through Saturday, the restaurant likely will add lunch and late-night eventually. Divided into four sections, the menu offers both fresh and extruded pastas, a section called "Not Noodles" and selections under "After Pasta." We can't wait to try the bruschetta "banh mi" (it contains both pork and chicken livers). The restaurant replaced Ria Pell's (Bluebird) establishment called Sauced, when Pell sold the space to Logue. His attention to freshness and detail at La Pietra Cucina makes us eager to experience this concept. Dinner Mon.-Sat. BoccaLupo, 753 Edgewood Ave., Atlanta, GA 30307, 404-577-2332.
BurgerFi opened its first Atlanta location on Tuesday, April 16, in Emory Point. The quick-serve restaurant emphasizes all-natural, farm-raised beef, specialty hot dogs and fresh-cut french fries all cooked to order, as well as desserts, craft beer and wine. This first restaurant is open for lunch and dinner daily. Weekend service closes at 12:30 a.m. For more information, call 404-665-4400. A second location will follow soon in Alpharetta. BurgerFi, Emory Point, 1520 Avenue Pl., Ste. B-140, Atlanta, GA 30329, 404-665-4400.

Campagnolo Chef Daniel Chance Takes Home Golden Onion Trophy
The Golden Onion, the official kick-off to the 36th Annual Vidalia Onion Festival, gives each competing chef one hour to prepare and present a recipe featuring Vidalia onions, Georgia's official state vegetable. This year's competition was just the second such event at the festival, and it drew an impressive swath of chefs from across the state. Top honors went to Daniel Chance, executive chef of Campagnolo in Midtown Atlanta. Chance won with a recipe for "Scallop Stuffed Vidalia with Onion Purée." An Atlanta native, Chance said he plans to put a version of the winning dish on the restaurant's menu. Campagnolo, 980 Piedmont Ave. NE, Atlanta, GA 30309, 404-343-2446.
The Sun Dial Restaurant, Bar & View To Close for Complete Renovation
On Sunday, April 28, The Sun Dial Restaurant, Bar & View will close to enable the complete renovation of the space to begin. The work is slated to be completed by August 1, 2013, when the restaurant will reopen. Besides its seasonal menu, the facility is popular for its roof-top view of the Atlanta skyline as the dining floor slowly moves 360 degrees. It's also well known as a jazz club, home to the Mose Davis Trio. The Sun Dial Restaurant, Bar & View, The Westin Peachtree Plaza, 210 Peachtree St. NW, Atlanta, GA 30303, 404-589-7506.

The St. Regis Atlanta has closed its Paces 88 American Bistro, and is using the space as a special and private event area. For hotel guests' meal service, the hotel has opened Astor Court, which it says serves "English" fare, but we found Southern items, from fried green tomatoes and grits to north Georgia trout. Certainly English, at least in custom, is the afternoon tea, priced at $40 and $48. Paces 88 American Bistro, The St. Regis Atlanta, 88 W. Paces Ferry Rd., Atlanta, GA 30305, no phone.
The Buckhead location of Truffles Grill has closed. The restaurant was owned by Ruby Tuesday, Inc. Truffles Grill, 3345 Lenox Rd. NE, Atlanta, GA 30326, no phone.
