The Sixth Floor Museum in Downtown Dallas has just opened a new cafe just across the street from the museum at 501 Elm Place. The cafe is led by local shop La Duni and features all of their fabulous pastries and cakes. The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza chronicles the assassination and legacy of President John F. Kennedy through photographs, videos, artifacts and preserved evidentiary areas of the former Texas School Book Depository. Breakfast, Lunch, & dinner Daily. Chef Tony Gardizi, formerly of Vue and currently with Capriccio, plans to open a new restaurant in the old Bishop Arts Cafe Madrid location. The lease will be finalized this week with plans to open in early October. The restaurant will be called Decanter and is described as a "restaurant and wine lounge". More details to come! SCC hosts Happy Hour charity fundraiser at Sambuca
Join the fun at Sambuca on Wednesday, August 4, when SCC (Supporters of Children's Charities) hosts a happy hour benefitting the Family Place and Love for Kids. Your donation of $5 gets you one free drink, happy hour prices from 5:30 to 8 p.m., and complimentary appetizers from 6 to 8 p.m. After 7 p.m., there will be a live band and dancing. Sambuca is located in Uptown Dallas and features an eclectic European design and outdoor lounge. Optional valet parking is available for $3; self-parking is free. RSVP by emailing [email protected]. Stroll, Sip & Shop in Dallas Bishop Arts District on Thursdays
The Bishop Arts District in North Oak Cliff continues to draw new and old patrons with its hip urban élan and ever-evolving restaurant/shopping scene. Now, the district has put together a First Thursdays Wine Walk, where you can pick up a wine glass for $5 at any one of the tents set up along Bishop Avenue and refill the glass for free at area shops. Prowl through the vintage duds at Zola's or get some all-natural treats for your pooch at Green Pet as you sip, stroll, and shop. First Thursday Wine Walk happens the first Thursday of every month through September 2 and lasts from 6 p.m.-9 p.m. Bishop Arts District First Thursdays Wine Walk, N. Bishop Ave. and W. Chef Shuffle

As Dali Wine Bar closes its doors, The Green Room has recruited chef Joel Harloff to come aboard. Harloff has been associated with many fine restaurants in his home state of Wisconsin, as well as in New York and Texas. Green Room managing partner Taylor Allday held several meetings with Harloff over the Fourth of July weekend, and management liked his ideas for the menu and the restaurant in general.
