Openings

3 Stacks Smoke & Tap House is a new restaurant focusing on smoked meat and craft beer. Ribs, the signature dish, can be paired with one of 36 American craft beers on tap. The menu also features smoked meats, fish, seasonal vegetables, breads and desserts. Restaurant consulting company Vision 360 consulted on the menu and created the Texas chic design, which includes artwork from Deep Ellum muralist Frank Campagna. Located down the street from Stonebriar mall in the shopping center behind Hooters, 3 Stacks Smoke & Tap House is open for lunch and dinner daily. 3 Stacks Smoke & Tap House, 4226 Preston Rd., Frisco, TX 75034, 469-287-9035.

Husband-and-wife Richard and Tiffanee Ellman, owners of Oak in the Design District, have opened Belly & Trumpet, a new upscale restaurant, in an intimate house on McKinney Avenue in Uptown. Brian Zenner, who is Oak's chef de cuisine, serves as executive chef; joining him as sous chef is Rudy Mendoza, with whom he worked at the Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek. The menu will feature global cuisine in the form of shareable plates. General manager is Adam Karpf, who was most recently the manager at Spiaggia in Chicago, and prior to that, a manager at the Mansion on Turtle Creek. The Ellmans have teamed up with John Paul Valverde of Coeval Studio to create a space that Valverde describes as "striking, regal and comfortable." Belly & Trumpet is open for dinner Tuesday through Saturday, and as befits the Uptown location, it'll keep late hours: until 11 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and midnight on Friday and Saturday nights. Belly & Trumpet, 3407 McKinney Ave., Dallas, TX 75204, 214-855-5551.

Taverna Pizzeria & Risotteria Moves to New Location
Taverna Pizzeria & Risotteria, located in Dallas, will move to a new location this spring, but just four blocks away, next door to Toulouse, a sibling concept from owner Alberto Lombardi. The relocation puts Taverna in a more prominent spot adjacent to the Katy Trail. Taverna will maintain its intimate trattoria atmosphere and al fresco patio dining at the new location with interiors designed by Lombardi and interior designer Ron Guest. The move will take place at the end of March and will be conducted overnight so that Taverna won't miss a beat. Taverna Pizzeria & Risotteria, 3210 Armstrong Ave., Dallas, TX 75205, 214-520-9933.

Chef Shuffle

In search of greater personal autonomy, chef Tre Wilcox of Bravo's "Top Chef" fame, has left Marquee Grill, to be replaced by Andre Natera, former chef at The Fairmont Dallas hotel. Natera, a graduate of Le Cordon Bleu School of Culinary Arts Portland, developed an interest in locally sourced ingredients after a stint in California. Natera oversees over the cozy dining room on the ground floor of the Marquee, while manager-owner Mark Hearl will introduce a sushi concept for the restaurant's second-floor level. Marquee Grill, Highland Park Village, 32 Highland Park Village, Dallas, TX 75205, 214-522-6035.
