RESTAURANT NEWS

Openings

Fried chicken at Maxs Wine Dive Max's Wine Dive, known for its high-low pairing of fried chicken and Champagne, has opened a branch in Fort Worth. Founded in Houston in 2006, Max's Wine Dive is half wine-bar, half comfort-food restaurant. Fried chicken is the signature dish, but the menu also has cutesy items such as the Texas "Haute" Dog, with house-pickled jalapeños and cotija, and Nacho Mama's Oysters --- fried Gulf Coast oysters served on fried wontons and topped with habañero salsa and cilantro. Its grilled cheese sandwich comes on thick Texas toast, with a cup of tomato soup on the side. In addition to the Houston original, there are Max's in Austin, San Antonio and Dallas, with more in the works. Max's Wine Dive, 2421 W. 7th St., Ste. 109, Fort Worth, TX 76107, 817-870-1100.

Beaujolais & Beyond Wine Festival Returns
By French law, Beaujolais Nouveau is only released from wineries at the stroke of midnight on the third Thursday of every November. Villagers and city folk take to the streets to celebrate, and that party comes to Dallas on November 22, 2013, with the annual Beaujolais & Beyond Wine Festival! Special arrangements are made to fly in some of the first cases of Beaujolais Nouveau, so that Dallas can share in the celebration as well. This year's celebration will be held at Irving Convention Center at Las Colinas. Call 972-241-0111 or visit www.faccdallas.com for more information.
