CLOSED FOR GOOD

Matt's Rancho Martinez, a Lakewood institution, is moving. The legendary Tex-Mex eatery, which ruled the center of Lakewood for more than two decades, will relocate to the old Consignment Solution furniture store at Skillman and Live Oak, where it will recommence serving cheese enchiladas, chile rellenos, and its signature Bob Armstrong dip --- with layers of seasoned ground beef, guacamole, and queso --- this summer. Matt Martinez III, who took over after his father (and founder) Matt Martinez Jr passed away in 2009, opted to relocate the flagship rather than shoulder a rent increase and remodel. There are three other branches of Matt's: in Garland, Cedar Hill, and the newly opened branch in Allen, at 305 N. Central Expwy. As for the Lakewood space, it will become the 16th branch of Mi Cocina, the flourishing Dallas-based Tex-Mex chain; a major renovation is already underway. Matt's Rancho Martinez, Lakewood Village, 6332 La Vista Dr., Dallas, TX 75214, no phone.
