RESTAURANT NEWS

Openings

After his successful exec chef stint at the The Mansion Restaurant at Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek, toque John Tesar returns to Texas to open his first eponymous restaurant. Tesar's passion for sustainable foods will be the focus for his first branded restaurant, Tesar's Modern Steak & Sustainable Seafood. The earth-friendly menu will feature produce, meats and seafood that are 100% organically grown and fed, with a zero-tolerance policy for resource or food waste. Tesar's Modern Steak & Sustainable Seafood is coming to the Woodlands area of Houston in August.

Sambuca 360 is set to open in the previous home of popular Martini Park at Shops at Legacy this July. One of the hottest night spots in North Texas, Martini Park had to close its doors due to a city ordinance requiring a certain level of food sales, ultimately making it a victim of its own popularity. Sambuca will fill a much needed niche for that area, delivering guests a high level of energy and fun while backing up the bar business with a full menu.

With 30 worldwide locations, Vapiano International is bringing its innovative "fresh casual" concept to Mockingbird Station. Novel in its approach, Vapiano is a fast-casual restaurant with an urban upscale Italian decor. Showcasing all-fresh gourmet ingredients, the menu offers guests a nice selection of made-to-order fire-roasted pizzas, house-made pastas and specialty hand-tossed salads. Vapiano, 5319 E. Mockingbird Ln., Ste. 100, Dallas, TX 75206, 214-887-1557.

A classic Texas burger favorite is setting up digs in North Fort Worth. Long-time local burger legend, Kincaid’s Hamburgers, is set to open in the Alliance Town Center (Interstate 35 and Heritage Trace Parkway). Kincaid’s began as a full-service grocery and meat market in 1946. For those who haven’t had the chance to experience a Kincaid’s burger, you’re in for a real treat; for those who have...you’re probably already on your way there.

Cousin's Barbecue Soaks Up National Spotlight
Cousin’s Barbecue was one of four national finalists competing in ABC’s  “Good Morning America” challenge to find the best barbecue in the country. Open in 1983, the original McCart Avenue location in Fort Worth has been serving its loyal customers for over 25 years. The “Good Morning America” nod isn’t the first time Cousin’s has enjoyed major accolades for its Texas-style, finger-licking food: Cousin’s was also chosen as the barbecue of choice for President H. W. Bush on several occasions. It even received international recognition when Euro Disney selected Cousin’s to open their barbecue concepts throughout their theme park. Cousin’s now has six Tarrant County locations: two in Fort Worth, one in Keller, one in Crowley and two at DFW International Airport.
