Lockhart Smokehouse will open a second location in Plano by the end of 2013. The restaurant takes its ’cue --- and its name --- from the barbecue capital of Texas, saving Dallasites the burden of making the four-hour drive to Lockhart to get great barbecue. They burn Texas post oak inside a Bewley smoker where they smoke brisket, ribs, sausage and prime rib. You order by the pound and get it served the old-fashioned way: plopped in a heap on butcher paper, with no fork and no sauce.

First-Ever Dallas-Fort Worth TacoCon (Cerveza) on September 6
The North Texas Taco Festival and Four Corners Brewing Company are hosting the Dallas-Fort Worth TacoCon (Cerveza), a celebration of the lonchero (taco truck). The event will be held on the grounds of Four Corners Brewing Company from 6 p.m.–10 p.m. and feature five trucks and trailers from the Dallas/Fort Worth area: Holy Frijole, Chile Pepper Grill, Ssahm BBQ, Taco Heads and Taco Party.
