Himalaya restaurant has opened at 35 W. Main St. in Ventura. The area has several Indian restaurants, but this is the first establishment to offer cuisine from Nepal and Tibet, as well as more familiar Indian dishes. (Think Tibetan momos and chicken bhu-tu-wa, with spices unique to the Himalayan region.) Himalaya, 35 W. Main St., Ventura, CA 93001.

Montecito Wine Bistro has opened at 516 San Ysidro Rd., the former home of Piatti. Menu appetizers include croque monsieurs, steamed mussels and flatbreads from the wood-burning oven. The entrée menu features dishes such as vegetarian selections and fresh fish, and in addition to wine there's a full bar. For more information, call 805-969-7520. Santa Ynez Valley Restaurant Week Returns
During Santa Ynez Valley Restaurant Week January 22-28, participating restaurants will offer special three-course tasting menus for the price of $20.12 (excluding tax, tip and beverages). Specific dining hours and menus vary. Restaurants include Santa Ynez Valley standouts like The Ballard Inn and Root 246, among others. Twittertini Tuesday
On Tuesday evenings, the Farmers' Market takes over downtown Santa Barbara. Meanwhile, a few blocks north, at Elements restaurant, a $5 cocktail special is based on that week's local, seasonal fare. Guests who have signed up through Twitter will receive a "tweet" with the chef's pick from the market that day. Restaurant patrons will also be able to take advantage of the offer. Elements, 129 E.
