With the expansion of Terminal 2, travelers will finally be able to experience the tastes of San Diego. A new building will house food and drink options like Phil’s BBQ, a local favorite that will serve up its famous ribs and sandwiches. Globetrotters will also be able to sip beers from the famous Stone Brewing Co. In addition, several other new restaurants will open in August 2013, adding a little culinary panache to the airport food scene. With the revamp of La Shores Hotel and the arrival of Kimpton, the new Cusp Dining & Drinks has taken over the 11th floor. The expansive windows frame views of the Pacific and the charming hills of La Jolla. Executive chef Donald Lockhart, who hails from L.A.'s Delphine, has created a friendly Mediterranean-inspired menu with tasty fare like yellowtail and quinoa, burrata flatbreads, and cripy pork belly. Handcrafted cocktails by Chicago mixologist Nate Howell add a little urban savvy to the scene. San Diego African Restaurant Week Makes its Debut
The first San Diego African Restaurant Week will take place from October 19-28 and feature free cooking classes, traditional dance and music, coffee ceremonies and more. Several restaurants will also be offering $15 prix-fixe menus including an appetizer, main course and dessert. For the full schedule of events, please visit africanfoodsd.com.
 
Chef's Table Dining at Delicias
Each Tuesday night through the month of November, executive chef Paul McCabe will treat an exclusvie group of diners to a culinary extravagazna via his chef's table experience at Delicias. Fortunate foodies will be at the mercy of chef during this custom-themed, five-course dinner set at the best table in house. Chef McCabe will interact with the guests throughout the evening. The chef’s table can hold up to eight guests, and reservations must be made at least 48 hour in advance. The cost is $125 per person with wine parings, and $95 without. Chef Shuffle

Robert Hohmann has been named chef de cuisine of 1500 Ocean Hotel del Coronado's fine dining restaurant stands out as one of the great seaside dining spots in San Diego. With the departure of chef Aaron Martinez, 1500 Ocean welcomes chef de cuisine Robert Hohmann, who has an impressive resume, including stints at Thomas Keller's Per Se and Bouchon Bistro, along with Mario Batali's Del Posto. His new menu launched October 1, and we are highly anticipating his creative culinary touch. 1500 Ocean, Hotel del Coronado, 1500 Orange Ave., Coronado, CA 92118, 619-522-8490.
 
Brooklyn Girl Eatery, the bustling ever-popular Mission Hills eatery, has lost its original executive chef, Tyler Thrasher, who has been replaced by sous chef Colin Murray. The Cowboy Star alum has deflty taken the reins and continues to deliver dishes such as wood-fired flatbreads to pan-seared sea bass. The transition has been smooth, and Murray shows confidence as the top dog. The delightful restaurant, owned by Michael and Victoria McGeath, continues to be packed nightly. After 44 years of service, the formal dining experience at the Rancho Bernardo Inn, El Bizcocho, will close it doors after brunch on October 14, 2012. The iconic restaurant was home to many interesting chefs and memorable meals, but now the setting will be transformed to the tune of $2.5 million.
