Openings

Kissaki serves sushi and composed dishes in an omakase tasting format at its 16-seat counter. Mark Garcia, who made sushi at Gaijin in Astoria, Queens, is executive chef-partner; and Evan Zagha, who cooked at Brushstroke, is co-executive chef. Rôtisserie chickens are the star of the show at Forest Hills’ La Rôtisserie du Coin, a counter-service bistro with vintage décor. Also featured are traditional sides like ratatouille and french fries. La Rôtisserie du Coin, 10710 71st Rd., Forest Hills, NY 11375, 718-487-3028.
 
Masti Indian Grill & Chaat Bar in Williamsburg offers a menu ranging from curries and tandoori specialties to street-food fare and vegan dishes. Michael Stillman, co-founder of the restaurant group Quality Branded, has opened Quality Bistro, his take on a modern French bistro in midtown. Seating 180 guests across multiple dining rooms, the place serves an Alsatian tarte flambée, French onion soup, escargots and steak frites. Antonio Mora is the executive chef. In NoLIta, October offers plant-based food that includes grain bowls and salads crafted with herbs and greens sourced from its in-house hydroponic gardens. Sanpoutei, owned by Sanpou Group, which has more than 50 restaurants in Japan, Singapore and Canada, has debuted on 2nd Avenue as the first NYC outpost. Soy sauce ramen, or shoyu ramen, is the specialty, and dishes like Sichuan peppercorn edamame and spicy Sichuan-braised beef are also served. Da Toscano is open in the old Perla space Michael Toscano, the former executive chef of Perla, is back in the old Perla space on Minetta Lane with his new spot, Da Toscano. The menu features a grilled beef tongue panino, chicken liver pâté with beef cheek marmellata, squid ink linguine with rock shrimp, and baked skate wing. Ernesto's, a new restaurant from chef Ryan Bartlow, highlights food from the Basque region of Spain. The menu features octopus skewers with pear and salsa bravas, crispy fried blowfish tail, and foie gras with a griddled corn talo cake. Ernesto's, 259 E. Broadway, New York, NY 10002, 646-692-8300.
 
After running a successful pop-up, Natalie Hernandez has a new brick-and-mortar in Bed-Stuy serving Mexican food called Boca Santa. Sauced, a 40-seat wine bar in Williamsburg, has a 150-bottle list and 20 wines by the glass, as well as a room in the back that hosts karaoke nights, live music, and DJ nights. Leah Cohen, formerly on “Top Chef” and owner of Pig and Khao, has opened her second restaurant, Piggyback NYC, near Penn Station. Her husband, Ben Byruch, is her partner. The team behind Jacob’s Pickles and Maison Pickle has a new Upper West Side spot, Tiki Chick, a modern spin on the retro tiki bar. The colorful place serves frozen drinks with paper umbrellas and fried chicken sandwiches with Spam. Tiki Chick, 517 Amsterdam Ave., New York, NY 10024, no phone.
 
Goodman’s Bar is the chic café and aperitivo bar on the second floor of Goodman’s Men’s Store at Bergdorf Goodman. Guests will find a curved marble bar and a menu of classic New York dishes like caviar with crème fraîche, horseradish and potato chips, and black bass tartare. One of Tokyo’s most acclaimed yakitori chefs, Yoshiteru Ikegawa, has a new restaurant in NoHo called Torien. The 16-seat yakitori omakase spot offers a $150 tasting that features skewers and other dishes, like delicate chicken soup. Torien, 292 Elizabeth St., New York, NY 10012, no phone.
 
Bergamo’s, a new cocktail bar in the lobby of a 29-story office tower near Grand Central, sprawls over 8,500 square feet, with a 63-foot bar. Classic and creative cocktails accompany a menu that features bar snacks like cacio e pepe dip with carta di musica bread and spicy soppressata melts. Changes for Tomorrow
Owner Amelie Kang has turned Tomorrow, her fast-casual spot in the Financial District, into a full-service but informal Chinese bistro called Chubby Princess. Chef Shuffle
