Openings

The Bao empire keeps growing, this time with Mikey's Burger, Michael Huynh's hamburger heaven. Look for Asian-inspired patties, as well as a signature iteration topped with corned beef hash. Mikey's Burger, 134 Ludlow St., New York, NY 10002, 212-979-9211.
 
Socarrat Bar de Vinos, an extension of the original Socarrat Paella Bar space, is now open. Here, you'll be able to nosh on tapas and sample from a special wine list while waiting for your heaping helping of rice and seafood. A collaboration between the partners behind Room Service and Klong and consulting chef Michael Huynh, OBao looks to bring the trademark Bao flavors to Midtown. Don't expect the eats to stray too far off the beaten path, as the kitchen will turn out dishes like salt and pepper shrimp with tamarind and Mekong fisherman soup. Helmed by a team from the Macao Trading Co. and Employees Only, the East Side Social Club boasts a selection of strong cocktails and quality American eats in a sexy lounge space. Look for everything from a raw bar to roasted cod with Brussels sprouts on the menu. East Side Social Club, 230 E 51st St., New York, NY 10022, 212-355-9442.
 
McDonald's is going sleek with this European-style location. The refurbished outpost features flat-screen televisions, free wi-fi and even Danish furniture. The Norry at Kampuchea is part of a 40-seat expansion by Manhattan's only Cambodian restaurant. This pub grub addition will serve Num Pang sandwiches (also a project from the Kampuchea team), smoked fluke with pickled wood ear mushrooms and even speciality cocktails. News Bytes
The Son Also Rises
Tom Colicchio, star of Top Chef and the man behind Craft, has closed his West Chelsea/Meatpacking District restaurant, Craftsteak. In its stead will be Colicchio & Sons, where Colicchio will be in the kitchen. The reservation line is now open. Craftsteak, 85 Tenth Ave., New York, NY 10011, 212-400-6699.
 
Falls & Rises
Michael White of Marea is rumored to have taken over the lease for a space downtown in order to open a pasta-centric restaurant. The space was last known as The Falls, on the corner of Spring and Kenmare Streets.
 
Little Owl, Big Bucks
Gabe Stulman, owner of Joseph Leonard, is suing his former partners at The Little Owl and Market Table. He alleges he was pushed out as partner from those two restaurants, and that his partners owe him over $400,000 in his share of the profits. Eloise Eats
Todd English will be opening a food court at The Plaza hotel this spring. Look for in the hotel's lower level, with eight dining options as well as shops. The name? Why, the Hotel Plaza Food Hall, of course. The Plaza, Fifth Avenue at Central Park South, New York, NY 10019, 212-759-3000.
 
El Cheapo Hour at Marfa
Marfa is introducing a two-hour special from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. every night. For $8 a person, customers can buy a platter of ribs, wings chili and chips and salsa. Marfa, 101 E. Second St., New York, NY 10009, 212-673-8908.
 

Chef Shuffle

Closings

Tavern on the Green, the legendary restaurant in the green shadows of Central Park, served its last meal on New Year's Eve 2009. Stay tuned for more news on the fate of this storied Upper West Side space.
